Landis Carey is a ceramic artist who processes life in clay. Throwing, hand-building, carving, and experimental glazing are meditative practices that bring heightened awareness and understanding to her observations.
On her functional and hand-built forms, she experiments with glaze viscosity, sheen, and texture to recreate portions of the color visions she experiences during meditation; she intricately layers four or five glazes to achieve color and light variations. Lighter glazes often pierce darker ones, reaching the vessel's surface where ambient light further draws viewers’ attention to their presence.

BASTIENNE SCHMIDT
Bastienne Schmidt is a multi-disciplinary artist working with photography, painting, and large-scale drawings. She lives and works in The Hamptons.
Malleable fabrics have been part of Schmidt’s practice for a long time, going back to her childhood in Greece, where fabrics were often recycled. Schmidt sees the painted fabrics functioning as a skin or a kind of garment. The pieces are prepared and painted in monochromatic shades of white on raw cotton duck canvas, reminiscent of the subtleties of whites of Agnes Martin. The sewn line is a soft form of geometry, wavering and pulling. This is a continuous variation of the concept of a grid, which plays with the absolute freedom and constraint of a given parameter. Whatever happens inside the grid is considered freedom. The grid itself stays the same and is considered the restraint.

REGINA DURANTE JESTROW
Regina Durante Jestrow’s practice explores the reinterpretation of American quilting traditions by investigating textile history and geometric pattern symbolism. She draws inspiration from the vibrant natural landscapes of South Florida, weaving the colors, textures, and structures of the region into her work using a diverse palette of new, second-hand, and hand-dyed textiles. An integral part of her artistic ethos is consciously incorporating thrifted and second-hand clothing and fabrics. By doing so, she aims to reflect Miami's culture and address the pressing issue of textile waste plaguing our society.
Her artistic journey is guided by a profound appreciation for American folk art quilts and a deep admiration for geometric-abstract artists from the mid to late twentieth century. Visionaries like the Gees Bend quilters, Elizabeth Murray, Helen Frankenthaler, Rosie Lee Tompkins, and Gego have left an indelible mark on her creative perspective.
Their influences have been powerful motivators, driving her to produce quilts with significant personal symbolism and weaving intricate narratives within their patterns.
